hi, i’m ALANA
I’m a Canadian freelance writer who came to cannabis as an alternative to sports medicine, because I'm also a long distance runner who wants to be doing what I love for a long time.
How does one become a cannabis writer?
I graduated from Sheridan College's Journalism program and moved on to the University of New South Wales to add a BFA to my CV, turning my zio Gino's Nikon toward the streets of Sydney between classes at the College of Fine Arts (COFA).
I kicked off my writing career by freelancing for Juxtapoz and several other art mags, interviewing all of the artists I admire and feeling like I had found the key to to an amazingly fulfilling career that would let me make sense of the world around me on my own terms.
In 2015, I tapped into the topic of cannabis and spent six months researching and testing out a market I knew nothing about. I began talking to everyone I could find on the subject, and haven’t stopped to this day. It is an absolute privilege to be let into the lives of those touched by cannabinoid-based medicine and to tell the stories of industry trailblazers.
People say I have a dream job, and it’s true, but that’s not where this story ends.
I am now one-fifth of the team at Alan Aldous, where we provide excellent PR and communications services for the emerging cannabis and psychedelics markets. Want to know more? Click on the “Free PR!” button at the top of this page.
